Do I get to pick out what goes into my share?
Yes and no. We offer a few different shares - the Farm Share, the Sausage Share and our Add-on Shares.
You do not get the choice of what cuts and sausages you get within whatever Share you choose. One of the points of a CSA is to trust your farmer and their expertise in expanding your love of meats.
How will I know what I am getting?
The Friday before each pick up I will be sending out a newsletter including what you should expect for each Farm Share.
What if I want more than what I am getting in my share?
No worries! Visit the Online Store and add whatever you want ala carte style. Please order at least 24 hours before pick up.
When does the season begin? How long is the season?
Your Farm Share starts when you want and ends when you want! We have rolling admissions every month and we have pick ups year-round. You can pause for a month any time.
How do I pay?
Once you have signed up for the Share you have decided on, I will be sending out a recurring Square invoice to your email. You will pay this invoice online and you will have the option to choose to have automatic payments taken out every month. Otherwise you will get an email to remind you to pay online. The due date will be on the 20th during the month previous.
When do I pick up my share?
Shares are usually picked up the first and third week of each month. The only exception is the Sausage Share which is the first week of each month only. If the schedule changes for any reason you will have ample warning.
Where do I pick up my share?
We have tons of options for pick up locations! Please see those listed below. During Farmers Market season you will have the entire market to pick up your Farm Share.
What if I am not local to Columbus or Blue Rock?
No worries! We offer shipping to the lower 48 states. Rather than two shipments you'll get the entire month's worth of meat and extras in one box.
The Egg Share is not available for shipping.
Can I switch up my pick up location?
Hey man, I am juggling thousands of livestock, markets, three shops, restaurants, this CSA and a household. Yeah, of course you can switch up your pick up location, but please minimize these requests as much as possible. I’ve got a few things on my plate. The first switch is free, but after that there is a $10 rescheduling fee.
If you need to switch your pick up location please email J[email protected] at least 48 hours prior to the switch.
What happens if I skip a pick up?
It depends. Did you skip it, forget it and don’t let us know until you pick up the next time? I am sorry, but you have just forfeited your opportunity to grab your share.
If you let us know you need to skip a pick up we can work together to get that share to you the pick up before or after. Alternatively, you can have a friend or family member pick up your share in your place. Contact us by emailing [email protected] at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled pick up date.
What happens if there is bad weather on pick up day?
Farmers get no days off so weather has to be very severe to reschedule pick up days. If tornadoes, hail, ice or lightning occur I will send out an email with information about a reschedule. If weather prevents you from showing up, please reach out asap!
Do you offer home delivery?
Yes, you will have to choose the Shipping Farm Share.
How should I care for my insulated tote?
The insulated totes should require little to no care. If anything spills on it, please wipe it down with a wet cloth. When storing please place the plastic insert flat along the side of the tote.
How long will my share last while frozen?
The meat is vacuum sealed and will last two to three years in the freezer. As long as the seal stays good, I promise you your meat is perfectly fine. If air is introduced I suggest you put that pack of meat on the menu for that week.
In the fridge you can expect your meat to be good for one to two weeks.
Where can I find information on cooking my share?
Each pick up week I will send out an email full of cooking ideas, recipes and links to cooking videos. During your first month of your first share you will receive a few printables you will want to keep handy!
What if I don’t like something in my share?
You’ve got a couple options if you’re not too keen on a particular cut or sausage. First option is always sharing the WIT Farm love and gifting it to a friend or family member. The second option is discovering new ways to cook those things you may normally pass on. I used to not be the biggest fan of our smoked chicken (I’m totally a wimp about salt) until I had it on top of a salad. Now I love it!
**If you have a true allergy or sensitivity please reach out! Nightshades make my arthritis flare so I totally get it. Just know with restrictions I will have a smaller variety to present to you.
What if the Farm Share is too big for me?
Maybe your partner is vegetarian or you simply do not have the time to cook as often as you’d like. I hear you! A great option is finding a friend or family member to split your share! We prefer one party to be responsible for payment on our side, but split it any way you’d like on yours!
How do I cancel my recurring subscription?
Sometimes things in life change - a job loss or you decide to try going vegan. Whatever the reason, you may have to cancel your Farm Share subscription. Reach out to us at [email protected] and we will get that taken care of right away. Just know - we adore having you as part of the WIT Farm Family!
